CODEX CODE REVIEW
Automated Codex Code Review in Your Dev Loop
AutoPilot puts Codex code review inside an automated loop. After Claude develops a change, Codex reviews and validates it, flags issues, and AutoPilot manages the corrections until the work passes.
Codex code review as a stage, not an afterthought
Most AI development tools stop the moment code is generated. AutoPilot treats Codex code review as a first-class stage in the workflow. Once Claude develops an implementation, the change is handed to Codex for an independent pass that validates the logic, checks for regressions, and surfaces issues before anything is approved. Nothing reaches a “done” state on the strength of a single model’s output.
AutoPilot is an AI Dev Control Center that runs locally on your machine. It does not replace Claude or Codex; it manages the workflow around them so that each model does what it is best at, with the human keeping final say. You can see the whole approach in action on the AutoPilot homepage or in the product demo.
How the develop-review-correct loop works
The division of labor is explicit, and AutoPilot orchestrates the hand-offs between each role:
- Claude develops. It writes and implements the change against the ticket and project context.
- Codex reviews. An independent review pass validates the diff, flags defects, risky patterns, and gaps.
- AutoPilot manages. It routes review findings back for correction, tracks the loop, and holds the change until it passes.
- You stay in control. Approvals, scope, and the final merge decision remain with the developer.
When the reviewer flags something, AutoPilot does not silently accept or discard it. The finding becomes part of the ticket, the correction is requested, and the cycle repeats until the change clears review. Every iteration is logged so you can trace exactly why a change was accepted.
Local-first, with memory and a full audit trail
AutoPilot is a local-first desktop app: your code stays on your machine, and the project memory, tickets, approvals, and execution logs live alongside it. That means review context carries forward across tasks instead of resetting with every prompt. The result is a development loop where automated review is consistent, repeatable, and inspectable.
Codex code review fits naturally into a broader, managed pipeline. Explore how it connects to the rest of the AI software development workflow and how reviewed changes flow through project management built for developers.
