Auto-update

How auto-update works

AutoPilot checks for new versions automatically. When a newer version is available, you can download and install it directly from within the app — there is no need to visit a separate page or reinstall manually. Updates are served from autopi.ai.

How a new version is detected

To learn whether a newer version exists, AutoPilot reads a small published manifest file named latest.yml. This manifest tells AutoPilot the latest available version and where to obtain it. When the manifest indicates a version newer than the one you are running, AutoPilot lets you know that an update is ready.

Installing an update

  1. When an update is available, AutoPilot notifies you within the app.
  2. Choose to download the update. The download is retrieved from autopi.ai.
  3. Install the update from within the app once the download completes.
  4. Allow the app to restart so it can finish applying the update.
Note: AutoPilot restarts to complete the installation of an update. Save your work before installing so the restart does not interrupt anything in progress.

Troubleshooting

Update not detected

If AutoPilot does not detect an available update, confirm that your machine can reach autopi.ai so the latest.yml manifest can be read. Network restrictions, a firewall, or a proxy may prevent the check. Restart the app and let it check again.

Download failed

If the download does not complete, check your internet connection and confirm that access to autopi.ai is not blocked. Try the download again. If it continues to fail, restart the app and retry.

Restart required

An update is finished only after the app restarts. If the app prompts you to restart, allow it to do so to apply the update. If the new version does not appear to be running afterward, close the app fully and open it again.

Still stuck?

If an update will not install, you can reinstall AutoPilot following the steps in Install AutoPilot. For any issue you cannot resolve, reach out through support.
